I can recall a time when I needed to testify against someone. I remember the days leading up to the court case, I was anxious and very fearful. I did not want to testify because I feared retaliation and just fearful overall. As such, I decided I was not going to do it.
I remember praying about it and God reassuring me I would be okay. So I stepped out on faith and made the decision that I would testify anyway.
On that day, not only did God show up but He showed out. It was my mere presence and a short statement (I made through my attorney) that won the case! I did not have to testify but merely show up and trust God!
That moment made me realize – when God commands us not to fear – He means it. And He will go before us and make the crooked places straight (Isaiah 45:2). But the reality is this – we have to let go of fear and trust God!
I want to challenge you today – “Do not fear!” God promises He will be on the other side.
For that broken relationship – know that God can restore
For that impossible healing – know that all things are possible with Him
For that financial trouble – know that God can supply all your needs
For that issue that has kept you up, night after night – know that God can deliver you out of all your distresses!
It is simple (although at times, it may not feel simple), God wants us to trust Him and not fear. He reminds us many times in the Bible to not be afraid but simply trust in Him. Here are five scriptures you can hold onto if you are battling fear:
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 27:1-4 The LORD is my light and my salvation– whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life– of whom shall I be afraid? (2) When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. (3) Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. (4) One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
