As we go through life, there will be many thoughts that plagued our minds. Thoughts of defeat, discouragement, doubt and other thoughts that do not align with the Word of God. Since we have been conditioned for so long to simply allow negative thoughts to replay in our minds, we may not realize that our minds need spiritual exercises for victory.
“And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2).
Exercise your mind daily
Is your mind playing a negative movie constantly? Well, it is time to turn the channel! Every thought you generate can and will come to pass. If you think I will never get over this sickness, chances are you won’t. But if proclaim, “By Jesus’ stripes I am healed,” you have just given your sickness an expiration date!
You have to start reconditioning your mind on a daily basis. I like to refer to it as spiritual exercise. It is not enough to exercise our bodies, but yet fail to exercise our minds. Begin clearing your mind daily of unwanted thoughts and then filling it with the Word of God. Proclaim His promises daily, declaring:
- God is the health of my countenance (Psalm 42:11)
- No weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)
- God will supply all my needs (Philippians 4:19)
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
- I am more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)
Don’t only ask, expect!
God is looking for not only askers, but also expecters. Many of us are good at asking, “God help me with this,” or “God help me with that!” But how many of us from the moment we cease praying start our day expecting? God doesn’t want you to simply ask, He wants you to believe and expect. Expect He will pay that bill for you, no matter the cost. Expect He will save your children’s souls, no matter what it looks like today. Expect He can turn that broken relationship around! He can do it!
“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11).
So know if it is written, you can expect it will happen for you! The key is learning more of the Word and not just allowing any thought to play in our minds. Stop sitting around when negative thoughts come your way, turn the channel and fight back, because victory starts in your mind!
Remember: God is waiting on you!
