One day a man was at his home and became very thirsty. He went into the kitchen and reached into the refrigerator and all the way to the back he saw a bottle of Gatorade that had never been opened. He poured a glass, drank it and before pouring his second glass, something told him to take a good look at the bottle. When he did, he noticed that the date on the bottle had passed and that the Gatorade was expired.
There are things in our lives that we need to pull out, examine and check the expiration date on. Periodically, we go through our refrigerator and our pantries and throw out things that are no longer usable but how often do we examine our relationships? How often do we check the expiration date on them? Ecclesiastes 3:1 says there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. It’s time that we do inventory in our lives and see things that we have been holding on to that are now expired. Old feelings towards people who have hurt you years ago…Expired. That friend who only calls you when they need something from you…Expired. A church where you are not growing but just going…Expired. We hold on to things because we think that we can’t live without them but if you step back and really take a good look and see that these things are expired, then the reality is you’re already living without them. The saying is that people are put in our lives for a reason, season or for a lifetime. Now, just may be your season to make room for something new!!!
