One of the bridges we usually take in the morning has been closed, so we have been taking an alternative route with only two lanes: one for outgoing traffic and the other for incoming traffic. This morning, there was an 18-wheeler traveling in front of me and a Nissan Altima traveling behind me. The driver of the Altima was obviously in a hurry because she decided to cut around me.
As she speeded past me, she hit multiple bumps on the other side of the road before ultimately having to stop because she had met the incoming traffic head-on. Her impatience severely impaired her integrity. If she had only stayed behind the 18-wheeler, the person who saw and knew all she couldn’t see, she would have been blessed instead of burdened.
Proverbs 16:25 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Often, we become so impatient with God’s leading that we choose to go our own way. However, we shouldn’t become so impatient that our judgment becomes impaired when we decide to lead God instead of letting God lead us.
For we only see in part, but God sees in whole, and where God leads, He meets needs; where God guides, He provides, and where God goes, He knows. So, be patient. Don’t go before Him. Wait on Him because the only thing worse than waiting on God is wishing that you had.
For if we decide to step out of His will, go around Him, or before Him, we have to be prepared to face life without His covering head-on.
