You can always tell when it’s parade season around my job. Not only because of the viewing stands, food trucks or the parking restrictions but also because of the number of people sitting on the sidewalk with their folding chairs and ladders securing their spots. One man was here yesterday morning when I arrived at work and this morning, that same man is still here. Still sitting in the same spot he was in yesterday. Every nosey part in me wanted to ask, “What parade are you waiting on?” But the Holy Spirit revealed to me that what’s more important than what he’s waiting on, is HOW he’s waiting and that is patiently.
He’s not moving all around. He’s not complaining. He’s not saying, “How long is this going to take?” But he has decided to wait on something that he believes is coming although he has no evidence at all now, that it’s even close to being on its way.
Are you waiting on something from God today? Let us remember this scenario and wait patiently for every promise the Lord has made us and know that although we may not see it now, believe that it’s on the way! Psalm 37:7 tells us to “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” When we allow ourselves to rest in Him, in His will, His promise, His love and in His faithfulness, He covers us with His peace that empowers us to wait peacefully, purposely and most of all, patiently. God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and it takes a lot of faith, but He is always worth the wait!
