Four words. That’s all I heard in the grocery store repeated over and over and over again. The more frequently these words were said, the louder they were heard. “I…WANT…IT…NOW!” I don’t know what this child wanted or what his mother had for him but one thing that I immediately observed was although he was obviously having a temper tantrum, his mother was very patient with him.
Have you ever caught a temper tantrum with God because you couldn’t have what you wanted? I have. It’s ugly. In the past, I have lashed out at Him in hurt, in disappointment and in anger because I didn’t get what I thought I deserved when I thought I deserved it. However, just like this mother was with her child, He too was very patient with me. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God is patient. He allows us to wear ourselves out and then let us rest in Him, reminding us that He’s got us – no matter what. We are His and nothing can separate us from Him – not even us raising our voices or kicking our feet! He has taught me that just because something isn’t happening for me right now, doesn’t mean that it won’t ever happen…so I don’t have to be loud, I just need to be patient and if we need to see how patience looks, all we have to do is look at Him! I’m so thankful that patience is one of God’s attributes and one of mine now too! Patience with God is faith!
