Recently, I had a conversation with someone I genuinely admire. This person is often energetic, but lately, the devil placed doubt and despair in this person’s mind. I knew the devil was trying his best to discourage this person because of the full potential and calling in their life.
And this is what the devil does to many of us (myself included!!). He knows that if he can get you to start to doubt, fall for his trickery – it will take you out of position to do the great work God is calling each of us to do!
So how do you dodge the tricks of the enemy?
Get a baseline.
Many years ago, I started a morning regimen. This regimen is simple but yet quite powerful. I wake up early in the 5 o’clock hour and seek God first before I start my day and read the Word. I recite a declaration that I declare over my life that I wrote years ago. It is filled with God’s promises and words. Finally, I journal to God and ask Him to help and guide me in all areas of my life.
When I fall off or do not stick to my morning routine, it shows in my life. During these times, I feel it gives the enemy the ability to get me off track and out of position. Therefore, when I feel a bit off, I return to my “baseline.”
What is your baseline?
Stay positive and believe in His Word.
One sure way to fall for the devil’s schemes is to speak negatively about any situation. Whether you believe it or not, your words have great power in your life. The Bible reminds us that death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Also, as we think, so are we (Proverbs 23:7)! Therefore if a situation arises in your life, be careful what you say concerning it. If you want to see victory, speak faith-filled scriptures and God’s promises daily until you see it come to pass!
Divorce worry and doubt.
I wish I could tell you this is an easy one, but the truth of the matter is at one time or another worry may plague our minds. While reading this, you may be worried about a financial situation, a loved one, a relationship, a health issue, or another personal concern. But today, bury the spirit of worry and doubt. Whatever you are going through, release it, and give it to God. Psalm 68:19 reminds us that God is our burden bearer. He will carry all of our burdens.
Find a scripture that promises victory concerning your particular situation. Memorize it and recite each time the worry thought comes to your mind. You will find that in time, this worry will no longer have any power over you.
Prayer and fast.
The Bible tells us that some things can only come through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). If you feel you need God to move in your life, it is time to pray and fast. When we fast and sacrifice time out of our day, we demonstrate to God that He is first and valuable within our lives. If you feel that you are out of your Godly position, consider starting a fast and bringing your requests to Him.
Prayer Starter: Father God, I thank You that You are a great and mighty God. I thank You for Your son Jesus Christ, the Great I Am. I ask God that You reposition me to be the woman (man) You have called me to be. Let me let go of worry and fear and stand on Your promises. Let me no longer fall to the tricks of the enemy and recognize them in advance. For this reason, I put on the armor of God so that I can stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:10). For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but with the dark world (Ephesians 6:11). Continue to allow me to stand firm in the faith, knowing it is You that holds my future. It is in Jesus Christ of Nazareth’s name, I pray. Amen.
