Recently, I wanted to discern God’s voice and request His direction. I learned that without His direction, I may travel the wrong path. Knowing this, I have learned to seek His direction by praying His Word over my life.
I pray these scriptures are helpful to you, just as much as they are to me. I always tell people I don’t write for others without first writing for myself. I refer to these scriptures time and time again to continue to seek His will and way!
If you find yourself where you need direction from God, here are ten scriptures that can help you find God’s way.
1. Psalm 37:23-24 The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
2. Psalm 23:1-3 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
3. Jeremiah 33: 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
4. Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
5. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
6. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. **
7. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
8. Psalm 119:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
9. John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
10. 1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Don’t underestimate the power of giving God His Word back! Please pray this prayer to help you along the way!
Praying the Word of God.
Father God, I come humbly before Your Throne in prayer. You are my Shepherd and for this reason, I shall not lack (Psalm 23:1). Thank You for showing me great and mighty things I don’t know by calling out to You (Jeremiah 33:3). It is for this reason that I come to You, Father God. My prayer is that You lead and guide me the way only You can. According to Your Word, I shall hear which way to take – whether right or left (Isaiah 30:21). Please give me clear instructions so I can determine the direction You wish me to take. God, I can ask my family and friends for help, but I want to turn to you directly for guidance. I am instructed in Your Word that no man can teach me, but only The Anointing can do that (1 John 2:27).
I pray through the power of the Holy Spirit that I am driven and guided in the right direction that I should follow (John 16:13). I pray that I have the grace to move where it is You desire of me. I pray You order and guide my footsteps (Psalm 119:133). Most importantly Father God, I want to get this right. I want to move where You want me to be. Your word says there is a way that seems right but in the end only leads to death (Proverbs 14:12). Keep me from being deceived and help me move toward where You want me to be. For this reason, I present this issue ____ and pray in the name of Jesus Christ (John 14:14). I pray I am peacefully directed to where You would have me to go. I declare a significant victory in the name of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 15:57). Amen.
