On yesterday, my mom and I had the privilege to attend my nieces’ 8th grade graduation. The graduation was fun and funny! The school decided to not only give out awards for honor roll achievements and the person most likely to succeed but they also gave out awards for the person most likely to get a ticket while smiling and the person most likely to make that one free throw!
No matter the award, kids and parents screamed with excitement as the awards were given. The school that they attend is multicultural and my imagination couldn’t help but wonder, “What will heaven be like when God gives us believers our awards?”
There are five heavenly crowns mentioned in the New Testament that will be awarded to believers. They are the imperishable crown, the crown of rejoicing, the crown of righteousness, the crown of glory, and the crown of life. I don’t know how it’s going to be done. I don’t know if we’re going to be in an auditorium, sitting on the grass or standing on the streets paved with gold but what I do know is that just like at that graduation, we will all be rejoicing! The excitement and the joy that everyone will feel when God calls our names to come up and receive the awards He has for us!
Not like the awards these kids received from the fruit of their work but our awards will be even greater because they will be given out by God Himself and will be awarded according to our faithfulness to His word! When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be! I will be screaming for you and I pray you’ll be there to scream for me!
