Daily, we experience situations in our lives that can cause us to worry and be afraid. In an instance, instead of living in the moment, we find ourselves living in the “what ifs.”
What if my child dies?
What if I can’t get out of debt?
What if I get ill?
What if I lose my job?
The uncomfortable truth is any one of those things could happen. No one is exempt from tragedy. No one is exempt from pain. God never promised us a trouble-free life. In fact, in John 16:33 (VOICE) Jesus tells us, “…In this world, you will be plagued with times of trouble, BUT you need not fear…”
When we focus on the “what ifs” or the worst case scenarios, we are operating in a place of fear and not in faith. It is one of the biggest ways the enemy attacks us. He places an entire dramatic performance in our mind, scene after scene. Unfortunately, by the time we realize it, our faith has already diminished over something that may never happen. But even if the worst happens, you need not fear because God’s grace is sufficient! Jesus died for you and me. He wants the best for you and He has an amazingly abundant plan for your life.
So, the next time you find yourself in the “what if” world, ask God to not only remove the fear but to replace it with faith! Replace your “what if” with “even if.”
Even if….God still loves me! Even if….God will never leave me nor forsake me! Even if…God promises to supply all of my needs!
Trade your fears of an uncertain future for the assurance of an unchanging God. Pray and ask God to renew your mind and replace every frightening fear with a thought of fulfilled faith.
Though we might not always be fearless, by praying and meditating on God’s word, we can fear less.
