I was talking to someone the other day about the unfortunate challenges they were facing in their relationship. We discussed how often we encounter situations because we don’t live and make choices according to God’s will for our lives. And in the end, we’re hurt. They listened and responded, “I hear what you’re saying. But I want what I want.”
Every one of us has been there. We seek after things we want versus things God wants us to have and we get them. But we don’t enjoy having these things because we have to literally struggle to keep them. Galatians 6:7 reminds us be not deceived. God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, he shall also reap.
Don’t misunderstand me. All of us have wants. I want these Steve Madden sandals right now! However, never let your wants supersede what God wants you to have. Always remember this. Every choice has a consequence. We get to pick the choice but we don’t get to pick the consequence. And that consequence can either be a blessing or a burden to you; but you get to decide what you want!
