After experiencing some highs and some lows, I have to admit, I sometimes put a limit on what God can do. Looking back on past experiences, choices, successes and even failures, there were times I put God into a box. And I am not alone.
Many believers fall into this notion that maybe God can help you excel in certain areas but not in others. Some may simply believe because a few years have passed by that God can only answer in certain ways in our lives. However, it is important in these times to stand on the scriptures of God.
Where do we go wrong?
We error when we think God can only do things in our lives a certain way. Because of our finite understanding, we put limits on what God can do. But God tells us that He is able to do exceedingly, above all that we can ever think (Ephesians 3:20)! How powerful is that? In essence, you may only be expecting a “cheeseburger blessing” when God is trying to provide you with a steak entree!
Remember how powerful He is!
Remember, when we enter the presence of God, we are not entering into the ordinary. We are entering the One who allowed Moses to separate the Red Sea, sent His son to die for our sins, turned David into a King, and rewarded Job double for His trouble. We have to remember whom we serve! We serve an awesome God who is capable and well able to do anything!
What limits God?
While God is such an awesome powerful God, in order to move from here to there, He requires something from us. In Isaiah 58:9-11, it tells us that God will answer when we call, but He also warns us to take away our wrong doings and He will reward us. Our lack of faith can also limit God! If we simply believe it will always be this way, or think that God cannot do an amazing thing in our lives, than the reality is – He will not.
The way we think could either hinder or help the process. If you have been thinking God can’t do a certain thing, you have already limited God!
Doing it your way!
Lastly, if you want to take the limits off of God, you have to begin to really surrender to His plan. This means doing it His way and His way only. What does this really mean? It simply means throwing out your agenda, your thoughts, your plans and asking for His grace and strength to do it His way. It is only when we align with His plan for our lives, we begin to see limitations lifted off our lives!
Do you dare to believe today? I am certainly renewed after writing this. I declare today I am no longer putting a limit on what God can do! And I promise you will see Him do a new thing in my life and yours as well! Be blessed!
