If you are like most, you may have resolved to start this year off with God. And while research shows that only 20% of people carry out their New Year’s resolution goals past February, here are a few ways to keep going throughout the year.
#1 Commit to a better prayer life
First, ask God for His help. Ask Him to help you throughout this year to seek Him first in all things. The Bible reminds us that if we seek Him first all things will be added to us. As you start your day, commit to praying first before reading your social media, turn on your television, or picking up the phone. Here is also a great way to pray to help you on your journey.
#2 Place scriptures around your home
Whatever area you expect a breakthrough this year, find scriptures that provide God’s promises concerning your situation. Write them on index cards and place them somewhere around your home so that you can see it daily. The Bible tells us that God’s word is powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Simply put, The Word of God can change things.
#3 Place Him first
As you go about this year, make small decisions to put God first. This may require making changes to your lifestyle. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what areas require attention. After God has revealed these areas to you, request He helps you to remove these strongholds and create new strategies to overcome. Finally, stand on Jeremiah 33:3. It reminds us that we can call upon Him and He will show us great and mighty things we simply do not know!! Remember, God is waiting on you!
