So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
(Mark 11:22-24)
In Mark 11, Jesus Christ of Nazareth traveling with His disciples came across a fig tree, which beared no fruit. After seeing this, He declared, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” The very next morning the fig tree had withered from the roots and dried up.
Your words have power!
No matter what you are dealing with in life, you have the power to turn the situation around. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 18:21, that death and life are in the power of the tongue. This lets us know our words are a spiritual weapon – Tweet That!. If you want to see a healing in your life, you have to speak healing over your body. If you want to see a change in your finances, speak to your bank account! And if you want to see a change in your relationships, you have to declare and decree restoration.
And keep in mind; just as words can change your situation for the good, they can also change it for the bad. If you speak negatively over your life, rest assure it will find a place to dwell.
Something is happening under the roots
Oftentimes, when we don’t see a change, we tend to give up in disbelief and give in to doubt. But take another look at our scripture reading today. When Jesus Christ of Nazareth spoke to the tree, it didn’t immediately dry up. As a matter of fact, the tree dried up the very next morning. Astonished by the dried up tree, Peter exclaimed, “Rabbi, look!”
This lets us know that when the disciples heard Jesus Christ of Nazareth speak to the tree, the words did not immediately manifest. This is no different in our lives. We have to speak what we want to see consistently. And while we may not be able to see it anything happening in the earthly realm, rest assure that God is digging it up from the roots!
So, how will you use your words? Will you use it with the power and authority God has given you? Or will you allow defeat to take place in your life. Remember, your words have power! It can be used to defeat the enemy each and every time.
