As I reviewed my student’s work, I noticed the program deducted points from what would have been a perfect score. As my student, looked surprisingly at the screen, simply not understanding why his grade was lower than he expected, I immediately knew what was wrong.
I knew he knew the concepts. I knew he was “smarter than smart.” But there was one problem, he did not read the instructions.
While his answers were indeed correct, the computer program required the numbers to be entered a certain way. This way, the program would recognize the correct answers and ensure the assignment is graded correctly. However, since he did not read the instructions, he simply came up short.
This is no different in our lives. Many times we set out on journeys. We make a decision. We partner with the wrong crowd or we simply make a move without seeking God’s instructions for our lives. As a result, it simply cost us everything we have. We have to get into a place where we seek God’s instructions before we do anything.
If you are at a place and not certain which way to turn, it is time to seek His direction. The Bible provides us with so many scriptures that encourage us to seek Him to obtain His instructions for our lives.
God, I come to You today, because I need Your instructions for my life. There are many ways I can turn and many things I can do, but God I only want to do the plans You have for me. God, in Your Word, You tell us that if we acknowledge You – You will direct our paths (Proverbs 3:6). God please direct me so that I can be clear what I should do. Give me a peace that surpasses all understanding. You also tell us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask You to provide. God, I simply need Your instructions. I do not want to move in an area that You have not called me to go and I don’t want to move away from anything that You desire me to stay. Please God make Your plans clear for me so that I can walk in Your commandments and Your Way (Psalm 119:35). It is in Jesus Christ of Nazareth’s name I pray. Amen.
Remember, God is waiting on you!
