“WAIT UP! WAIT UP!” She shouted many times as she ran towards the streetcar stopped at the corner. The gentleman walking along the sidewalk tried to help as well by whistling loud a few times but unfortunately, when she was only a few feet away from the streetcar, it pulled off on her. The gentleman said, “I’m sorry ma’am. I tried to help you catch it.” She said, “That’s ok. I appreciate your help sir but that was obviously not the one for me.”
How do you handle life’s disappointments when what you desire is so close but yet it’s not the one for you? You meet a great person but after dating for over a year, it turns out that he or she is not the one. You go through the interview steps for the new job, and it’s looking promising but then you get the call that the company decided to go with someone else. You longed and prayed for God to bless you and your friend and He does it immediately for your friend but He makes you wait. All of us face disappointments in life. It’s not “if” we will be disappointed but “when” and how do we handle it. One scripture that’s helped me over the years is Psalms 84:11 which says “No good thing will He withhold from ME!” Yes, I changed it up to make it personal because when we are disappointed, we have to redirect our focus from our disappointment to the DIVINE! Have FAITH that what God has for you, is for you! You will not have to chase it and you will not have to beg it to stay for God’s promises are permanent and personal. No good thing will He withhold from YOU! It will wait for you and unlike the streetcar, it will NOT pass you by!
