On his office door he has this sign: “I HAVE NO DESIRE FOR ANY PROBLEMS. I CHOOSE TO WALK AWAY FROM IT ALL BECAUSE I JUST WANT PEACE.”
Many people laugh when they see this sign on Bob’s door but the truth is deep down inside, peace is what most of us long for. However, the problem is that we look for peace in people, places and things but peace is not obtained by simply avoiding people, an argument or anything else. Real peace only comes from God. In order to experience a peace that passes all understanding, you must have a personal relationship with God because you can’t have the peace of God and not have peace with God.
When we learn to cast our cares on Him, even in the midst of our problems, we can still have peace. When people around us go low, we can go high – because we have God’s peace! We can trust Him to handle our headaches, heartaches and hang-ups and when we do, our faith replaces our fears, our worship replaces our worries and His peace replaces all of our panic. For Isaiah 26:3 promises “Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because He trusteth in thee.” In this life, even with God’s peace, problems will come. You can’t avoid them. So, peace does not mean that you will not have problems. But having God’s peace does means that your problems will not have you.
