A man was planning his wife’s elaborate surprise birthday party. As the days drew near, he made no mention of her upcoming birthday to catch her off guard.
Saddened by her husband’s nonchalant attitude concerning her big day, she decided to plan a day alone to celebrate. She purchased a cake, made dinner plans for one, and ordered flowers for delivery.
One day before her birthday, her husband discovered her crying in their bedroom. He knew it was time to reveal the surprise birthday plans. He asked her, “Why did you ever think I would forget about you?”
Like this wife, you, too, may feel God has forgotten about you. But He has not. His Word tells us our names are constantly before Him.
Isaiah 49:14-16
But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.” “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
God will do it!
Recently, I ran across an old journal. It was a special petition, and I had prayed to God for quite some time. As time passed, I felt as though God had not only forgotten about me but that He would never fulfill the desires of my heart. But many years later, God did.
Not only did He answer my request, but it was also better than what I would have thought of for myself.
Like this story’s wife, you may be planning your own party or outcome. But I dare you to place “it” in God’s hands and allow Him to create your ending.
In His Word, He tells us that He will never leave nor forsake you. But no matter what it looks like, you have to pray, press, and trust that He will come through!
Because, I promise you – He will!
