During a routine pregnancy exam, my doctor scheduled me for a routine ultrasound. At the end of the ultrasound, I was asked to come back in four weeks for a follow-up scan because my baby was measuring small.
When I arrived back at work, out of the ordinary, my supervisor asked me how my appointment went. I’m sure she could hear the disappointment in my voice as I told her what happened. After she and I talked for a few moments, I ended our conversation by saying, “Just one more thing to…” before I could finish my statement, she said, “PRAY ABOUT!”
Worry (or not trusting God) has been a significant issue in believers’ lives. Although we believe in God, we often focus more on our situation than our Savior. We put the spotlight more on our faultiness than on His faithfulness. We try to cover it up by saying, “I’m just concerned. Or I have a lot on my mind.”
But no matter how we word it, when we worry, we sin. We choose to dwell on the worst-case scenarios and put our hope in man rather than putting our confidence in God.
Philippians 4:6 (TLB) tells us, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers.” When we live by faith, we believe that God has everything under control, and we live out what we believe in our actions, thoughts, and words.
The entire Word of God constantly encourages believers to stop worrying. But during this process, I turned my worries into prayers, and I’ve learned that worrying never changes anything, but trusting in God always changes everything!
