Don’t meditate on worry!
Worrying is a form of meditation – don’t do it!
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Joshua 1:8
I have to give credit to my uncle for today’s devotion. Recently he stated, “Worrying is a form of meditation, but we have to recognize this and meditate on the Word of God!” (<<Tweetable!)
Wow! Although it was a simple statement, it was powerful.
Many times, we find ourselves worrying about things that God has already promised in His Word that He has taken care of! Think about a time that you worried and God worked it out! Guess what? He can do it again!
We have to understand the devil wants us to worry. See, he knows if we concentrate on every problem, trial or setback, we will not be able to focus on God.
But the Word makes it clear, that we should not worry but continue to pray. So much so, God gives us the following scriptures as it relates to worrying:
Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
So what are you meditating on? If you want victory and peace, you have to let go of the worrying and meditate on the Word of God!
Remember: God is waiting on you!
