Psalm 34:4 – “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
God reminds us time and again throughout His Word to seek Him. In Matthew 6:33, we’re told, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” In Jeremiah 33:3, He says, “Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
But today, we focus on Psalm 34:4—a reminder that when we seek the Lord, He hears us and will deliver us from all our fears.
This is what it truly means to choose faith over fear. It’s knowing that despite what may be happening around us, we can rest in the promise that God not only hears us but is able to deliver us from everything that troubles our hearts. So how do we choose faith when fear creeps in?
1. Bring your fears to God.
Come boldly before Him in prayer. Tell Him exactly how you feel. Be honest about your burdens, and continue praying until you feel peace take the place of worry. Let God know, “Lord, this is too heavy for me. I need You to carry it for me.”
2. Replace fearful thoughts with faith-filled scriptures.
When fear, anxiety, doubt, or unbelief enters your mind, speak the Word of God. Scripture is your spiritual weapon. It is powerful and effective.
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit… and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
Declare the truth of God’s Word out loud and let it change your atmosphere.
3. Cooperate with God’s spiritual laws.
Faith means moving in alignment with God’s will. That means:
- Don’t take matters into your own hands.
- Don’t speak negatively over your situation.
- Be still, listen for God’s voice, and wait for His instruction.
God wants us to choose faith. He knows that we will face trials and tribulations, but He promises that if we choose faith over fear that we will have a great victory in Him!
