My nieces are two funny sisters! On last week, the oldest one had surgery and until she follows up with her doctor, she is not allowed to lift anything heavy. Therefore, her little sister was told she would have to carry her oldest sister’s books until she’s able to carry them for herself. As a typical teenager, she responded, “I have to carry my books AND her books too?!?” Her father said, “YES!” Her response: “OMG!”
Although it may not be an easy task to do but we as believers have a responsibility to carry each other’s burdens. And according to Paul, it’s actually a personal responsibility we have towards others. He tells us in Galatians 6:2 to carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. So, if you see someone with a load that’s hard to carry, give them a hand.
Whether it’s a stranger struggling at the grocery store or friend experiencing deep tragedy. Lift them up, help out by not only taking on their burden but most importantly showing them that they’re not alone. Offer a helping hand when you can because the hand that you help today just may be the hand that you need to help you tomorrow!
