One of my friends recently went on a job interview and of course, she was asked a variety of questions. She’s very smart so I have no doubt that she gave excellent answers to all of them but one of her answers really stood out to me. She was asked, “When doing your job, how do you get back on track when you know you are not doing what you’re supposed to do?” Her reply was this. “Can I be totally honest with you?” “Of course,” the interviewer said. She said, “God convicts me when I’m not doing things I should and that’s how I get back on track.” When her and I talked after the interview was over, she admitted she wasn’t confident that the answer she gave was “politically correct” but it was “personally true” and there was no way she could deny it.
Matthew 10:33 (MSG) says stand up for Me against world opinion and I’ll stand up for you before my Father in heaven. I don’t know if my friend realized it or not but what she did was proclaim Jesus with her voice and that is what He desires from all of us. To acknowledge Him openly before men. God doesn’t desire secret Christians who will pray that He gives you the job but doesn’t acknowledge Him on the job. He’s looking for people who will boldly confess everywhere that He is Lord. That what I have, God gave me. What I am, God made me. Where I am, God brought me and what I know, God taught me. It is my personal prayer that we, as Christians, will publicly confess what we privately believe. Say it loud, “I love Jesus and I’m proud!”✊
