Scripture Reading: “…And let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.” (Esther 1:19)
Before Esther ever became the queen, King Ahasuerus was married to another queen, Queen Vashti. The King made a feast and invited all people to come. During the feast, the King requested Queen Vashti to present herself before the people so that all may see her beauty. The Bible tells us that she was fair to look upon (v.11). However, the Queen refused and as a result, her royal estate was given to Esther (v.19).
Ask God to put you where you belong
Sometimes in life, we may struggle to fit into a certain space. We push, pull, bend and continue to force, but the space just simply wasn’t designed for us. Well this is no different in the book of Esther. Some may argue that Queen Vashti had every right to refuse the king, because he was merry with wine (v.10) and others may argue that disobedience simply brings downfall (v.19). But the fact remains, that God knows where each of us belongs at every given time.
Step into His will
I can recall working my dream job as a criminal investigator, but no matter how hard I tried things just didn’t work out well. The job relocated me more than 60 miles from my home, being one of a few women in this position, I would get push back from my manager and besides that I always had to deal with something. Now that I look back I realize God was making it uncomfortable there so that I can move to exactly where I belong.
God will open a position for you
And the most amazing thing is, while my time was coming to an end, God had allowed someone who was working in my future position to move on to another position! This is no different in the book of Esther. God knew that Esther’s role as queen would not only benefit her but would glorify God! Her role was much more than a wife, the connection between herself and the king would save her people.
So today, ask God to put you where you belong. It is in this place you would simply fit naturally because it is the place that God has designed for you!!
