My husband and I have somehow turned Tuesday night into our TV date night. There’s a show that we like and last night we watched the season finale. In the finale, the participants had to made a decision. We both anxiously wanted to know what was going to happen in the end! Of course the show was designed to keep us in suspense. So, as soon as we thought the answer would be revealed….the show went to a commercial break! I thought to myself THIS IS TAKING TOO LONG! But as bad as I wanted to know what was going to happen in the end, I had no choice but to wait.
We all want things to happen in our lives but often we want them to happen now, not later. But the tendency to want to know about everything that’s going to happen can hinder our walk with God. It is in those times of waiting, that we must fully trust God and wait with patience. James 1:2-4 (MSG) says consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. As we develop patience, the Bible says we finally feel completely satisfied – lacking nothing! Trust God with your future. Don’t try to figure everything out and trust God will work it out. Good things come to those who wait. Better things come to those who don’t give up and the best thing comes to those who believe.
