I was getting my cardio in while looking for clothes in the mall on Saturday when I heard a guy call a girl’s name. He said, “Come here!” She said, “No,” and kept walking. He said, “Oh it’s like that!’Loudly but calmly, she turned around and said, “Listen. I’m not who I used to be!” And she continued to walk away.
2nd Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things become new.” I don’t know her but I was so proud of her.
Many times we change our lives but we don’t change our lifestyle. We attempt to move forward while yet, still dealing with our past. People in our past try to remind us of the way we were in the past and often times, we can’t get past them. However, when you are IN Christ, not just around Christians, but truly IN Christ, He makes all things new.
Your past doesn’t define you and it doesn’t have to dictate your present. We all have a painful past but in Christ, we can all have a fruitful future! So, it doesn’t matter who you used to be. All that matters is who you have become and are becoming! I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not who I want to be but thank God, I’m not who I used to be!! So, the next time something negative from your past calls you. Don’t entertain it. Because it probably has nothing new to say!
